Stars Fade, then Rally then Fade

Sunday soccer featured a clash between our Sudbury Stars and the Milford-Hopedale Red Hawks.  The Stars started slowly and quickly gave up two goals after defensive lapses.  Sage played goalie and had some good stops.  More importantly, she managed the defense and lead her team her vocally.
The start of the second half continued with the girls going through the motions.  Sunday afternoon on a weekend when Sage rode 25 miles in the MS Bik-a-thon, seemed to be a tough time to play.  Then with ten minutes to go in the game, the Stars came alive.  Sage, playing middie, assisted on the second goal which tied the game and then scored the third to take the lead.  Milford refused to go away and rallied for the equalizer with seconds to go.  Given the way the game went, a 3-3 tie is a fair score, but it was one that got away.
The Stars are now 1-1-1.  Next game is Monday night in Southboro.
