Battle of the Undefeated

Sage's indoor team clashed with the Framingham Flash on Saturday afternoon in a battle for first place in the league.  Both teams were 5-0 and crushing their opponents.  The Flash quickly went up 2-0, by the Firecrackers rallied back to take leads of 3-2, 4-3. and 6-5.
Sage played middie most of the game, which required running and running and more running.  She had three sweet assists with beautiful passes to her wings.  The Firecrackers could not hold the lead and the Flash eventually tied it 6-6 on a penalty kick.  Now we have to wait until the playoffs to see which team is really better.
Sage suffered her first soccer injury late in the second half.  She took a hard hit ball off the top of her hand.  Sage was astonished the referee called a penalty on her (one of three called on Sage during a very aggressive game).  With the hand hurting, she came out and iced it.  After seeing the score tied, Sage went in for one last rotation and played through the pain.  It was a very gutsy effort.  Final verdict on the hand was a significant bruise, but no break.  Just goes to show you should stick with your feet in soccer.
