First game was against the number 8 seed. Poor kids didn't stand a chance. Firecrackers rolled 7-1. Sage played goalie and didn't let in a single goal. Truth be told, she only had to stop one shot.
In the second game, a fired up Concord team was waiting. Sage was moved to middie and truly controlled the flow on both offense and defense. She set-up the first two goals with crisp passes to open wings as the defense collapsed on her.
The team earned a 30 minute rest before the final against Framingham. This team had tied the Firecrackers 6-6 earlier in the season. The game was very close through the first 20 minutes. Sage was playing middie again and was everywhere. Just when it looked like Framingham would tie the game at 2-2, the Firecrackers stole the ball and scored. 3-1 quickly became 4-1 as the Framingham team's spirit had been broken.
The celebration was muted relative to the last championship, but pizza and soda soon flowed afterwards at Papa Ginos. Now it is off to the outdoor season. Practice starts tonight for the Stars.
