Nine Month Report

MMMMMMMMMM CHEERIOS... Rayne just cannot eat them fast enough. Of course when you are eating them one at a time, it can take all afternoon.

The Cheerios are a new addition to Rayne's diet. At the nine month well check, Rayne clocked in at 92% in height and 52% in weight. This was good, however when the ratio of height to weight is compared, Rayne is only 38%. This means we have a skinny bean pole for a daughter. So, Doc says that it is time for Rayne to eat more finger foods. I firmly believe that the Cheerios are just an appetizer for her.

Besides height and weight, her pediatrician thinks she has a very big head and is very verbal for her age. She is not crawling yet, but she can really motor across the floor on her belly.

Fenway Days

There is little in the world as good as spending a glorious Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park. Such was the case last Sunday. We went as the guest of the owner of Texas Rangers... it is so nice to have friends with connections. The experience included third row seats and the ability to go on the field pre-game. The grass is greener... The game was exciting as the Sox's rallied late to beat the Rangers. Sage's day could not have been better. After learning how to keep a score book and enjoying a cotton candy feast, she was given one of the game balls. In 36 years of baseball, I have never gotten a ball. Sage just lives a good life.

Dynasty Starts a New Chapter

Sage's soccer team finally got its season off on Friday afternoon. Under crystal blue skies and warm sun, Sudbury welcomed Weston to Haskell Field. The Dynasty got off to a fast start and held the 1-0 lead at halftime. The game took a dramatic turn after halftime, with 6 goals scored in the period. Fortunately, Sudbury owned 3 of them and escaped with a 4-3 victory.

Sage played the left wing and also took a rotation in goal. She didn't allow a single goal while manning the net. Her best effort came during her last rotation as she had two excellent break-a-ways and shots. She did assist on the final game winning goal.

The full slide deck for the game is at http://picasaweb.google.com/mcclure.christopher/SudburyDynasty4Westin3

Next game is not for a couple of weeks as Sage will be riding the MS bike-a-thon and then vacationing in North Conway NH. Hopefully the Dynasty can survive while she is away.

So close to Crawling

Rayne is tired of sitting around. The world is just not coming to her fast enough. She has had enough of being a bystander. To address this, Rayne has started creeping. It started with directional rolling over, but she is now moving linearly. Check out the videos.... This is a significant trend because she is no longer guaranteed to be where you left her. The creeping is good practice for us as we will need to up our game once the real crawling starts. Rayne's crawling is only weeks away. Once she learns to lift that big belly, she will be off.

Sugarloaf/USA

Sage, Kristin and Chris travelled to ski Sugarloaf/USA in upstate Maine this past weekend. It is still very much winter there. Carabasset Valley set records for snowfall this year. The drifts and snow piles were over first story windows in some places. All this led to sensational skiing. However, as I mentioned, it was still winter. Temperatures were 8 degreess with a 20 MPH wind at the top. Frostbite was a real possibility on the first day. The second day cleared out and warmed to 45 degrees. The sunshine was so plentiful, it was almost dangerous. After the warmth, the winds really started to whip again. On the third day, the mountain could not run any of their chairlifts because winds were in excess of 80 mph at the summit. The only option to ski was to ride the snowcat to a T-bar at mid-mountain. Needless to say, we took the option of leisurely breakfast with warm coffee instead.
Sage's skiing is really improving. This trip she tried skiing moguls and glades. Glades are ski trails that go through the woods. You must be pretty good to not kiss a tree. The video below shows a mogul run. This was the last run of the day. Her legs didn't quite have the energy to make the turns. Best part was that she bounced back up and wants to run them again.
Rayne and Laila spent the weekend at Gram and Gramp's. Two more winters and Ray will be ready for skiing. As for Laila, she may always be a lodge dog.
