Rayne is Halfway There! Happy 6th

The birthday season continues to roll along here in Sudbury. Laila and Sage celebrated last week and now it is Rayne's turn. Before long Grampa's 60th and Dad's 36th will be here. Rayne started off her big day by sleeping through the night and waiting for Sage to wake and collect her from the crib. She then proceeded to take a monster morning nap of two hours before getting out of her PJs. Such is the life of the baby.
Rayne's voice is changing as she is trying to form words. She is very chatty and is happy to talk with anyone. There are no teeth yet, but they should not be too far off. Rayne's new skill is bouncing in the rain forest jumper. She will lift her feet while jumping only to bounce back to the ground. There are times when even Laila doesn't go near her because of the wildness.

Sage Birthday Sleep Over

Sage had the biggest sleep over of her life to celebrate her 9th birthday. Six friends came with sleeping bags, pillows and stuffed animals. They all crashed in the basement. It was a crazy night of pillowcase decorating, fondue cake and light sticks. The girls watched the movie 'Unaccompanied Minors'. Even with extra help from Gammy and Papa Bill, we still felt out numbered. At eleven, Dad started the 'time for bed' chant and the last ones were finally out around one. Little girls can make a lot of noise when bundled together. Dawn came early and Gramp arrived to make the birthday breakfast. Animal pancakes and bacon vanished as fast as Gramp could get them to the table. Evidently, staying up all night creates a big appetite.

As an aside, Sage now stands 4'5.5". At this rate, she is projected to grow to 5'5", which is also the same height as Mia Hamm. Must be good genes!

Sage's Ski Lessons

Sage continues to improve as a skier. She is learning parallel turns now and should be ready to ski more black diamonds this year. Her class has 6 kids and she is the youngest. The lessons are half over, but there will still be another ski trip to Sugarloaf this year. Somehow I think the fried dough at the end of the day is almost as good as the skiing.

Solid Food is so Messy

Rayne is moving into the realm of real food. We are convinced that at least 10% of the food does go in. Holding the spoon and mashing the cereal in her hand are favorite activities. Bland food is best so far, as she is not a fan of anything sweet. Baths are so neccessary after supper.
