Gators, Crocs and Dolphins... oh my

There is nothing like escaping the harsh New England winter and spending time visiting summer in the Florida Keys.  Did I mention it was over 75 degrees everyday with tons of sun?  In fact, not a day went by where sunscreen was not applied.   Ahhh..... sunscreen, the true definition of what being on vacation means.
It was a full week as we spent time at the pool, the beach, the park and the lovely beach bars.  Rayne was enamored with the beach and pool.  In fact it took several days for to understand that Sudbury does not have either in February.  Sage experienced scuba, alligators and dolphin painting for the first time.  Yes, Sage took part in an art class where the dolphin is the artist.  It was part of a birthday celebration provided by Dick and Wendy at the Theater of the Sea.

Vacation Travel to Florida Keys

Air travel would be so much better if  we all travelled with footed pajamas and our favorite stuffed monkey.
More pictures from the Florida Keys Vacation coming this weekend.

Highs and Lows of Futsal Session II

Posted by PicasaSage continues to play futsal in the Sudbury Soccer Futsal League. Her team survived the regular season and posted the most points. It was a challenging session because the teams were very well balanced. Sage led her team with 10 goals over the 7 game schedule. She also played some solid goalie.
Even with the number one seed for the tournament, her Rovers were knocked out. They lost two tough games 1-0 and 3-1. "We just played awful" was Sage's curt summary of the games. This is motivating Sage for the third session which starts after school vacation.

Weekend Vacation for Rayne

Rayne had a great time with Gram and Gramp this weekend.  Many thanks to Bob Childs for the photo shoot!

Waterville Valley Ski Trip

Posted by Picasa We made our first ski weekend trip of the year to Waterville Valley, NH.  It was the first time for Kristin and Sage there and I had not skied WV since 1989.  Conditions were excellent as  Mother Nature hit us with yet another snow storm just before we arrive.  Temps were single digits and the winds were 15-20 mph at the top, but that didn't stop the fun.
Sage's skiing is improving.  She continues to ski every week at our local Nashoba Valley.  Her big run of the weekend was down True Grit.  It is a steep, double black diamond run.  She cruised from top to bottom without stopping.  Better still, more than half the run was done without snowplow.  It was great to see her confidence push away the fear of the steeps.  We saved the bumps on True Grit for next year, but Sage did ski the moguls on the blues and did some glade skiing.
Rayne did not make the trip this time.  She and Laila had a weekend at Grammy and Gramp's.  Word is that everyone had a great time there as well.  It was Rayne's first multi-night stay away from Mom and Dad.
Next trip is to British Columbia and Whistler for two days in March.
