Look who is soooo big

Rayne has reached eight months and she is starting to show off a bit. She now can stand in her crib and gnaw on the rails. We are trying to discourage the gnawing... it really isn't ladylike. Rayne has taken to solid foods well. Mango and apple sauce are the favorites. She is also feeding herself with the bottle. Rayne is working on her social skills as well. She can clap and wave to her fans. Such skills at such a young age.

Science Fair Sensation

Sage participated in her first science fair. It was held at her school and she was one of almost one hundred presentations. Her study of Radon Gas and the associated hazards really made people think. Sage's hypothesis was that her home would have safe Radon levels. She conducted a complete experiment and she was right! Sage challenged the crowds by asking if they were concerned about drunk driving. She then wowed them by informing that the cancer caused by Radon Gas in the home kills twice as many people annually. There were many who wanted to go home and test there own houses. Our scientist knew her project very well and received a certificate from the official reviewer. It was very clear that she put major effort into this project. As for next year, the study of rainbows looks to be an early topic leader.

Being One with the Dolphins

Sage, Kristin and I took to the water at Dolphin Plus for an afternoon of swimming with the Dolphins. Before the swim starts, a dolphin trainer spends 45 minutes talking about the facility, the dolphins and the type of experience we are about to have. Even though she detailed what to expect, the in water time is unbelievable. All three of us swam together. We were joined by two female dolphins, Samantha and Sara. These girls were know as the local 'divas'. The swim lasted about 45 minutes. During that time, the dolphins started a splash fight, brought us 'present' from the bottom of the ocean and kissed us. They also used their noses to push us through the water and allowed us to hang onto their dorsal fins and cruise around the cove. Smiles were plentiful as everyone had a great time. Poor Rayne did not pass the swim test... guess this just means we will have to do this again someday. Many thanks go out to Dick and Wendy for making all arrangements and giving us a terrific Christmas present.

First swim for Rayne

Rayne splished and splashed her way across her first tropical pool while we were on vacation in the Keys. Hard to blame her for wanting to swim as the temperatures were in the low 80s and the winter sun was beating down. Our girl showed no fear and loved playing in the water. During the week she had several pool sessions. Each time, she was a bit more adventurous.
